The colors look quite attractive and we're also getting a peek of the front portion of the device, yet again confirming the hardware home button on the front, which will also serve as a fingerprint scanner.
Along with this leak, Xiaomi's Global VP, Hugo Barra announced that the company will be holding an invite-only media event at the MWC 2016 in Barcelona. The actual launch of the Mi 5 will take place in Beijing at about the same time, so it's likely that the company will offer a livestream for those attending the media event in Barcelona
"We're holding an invitation-only media preview on February 24, the very same day of our launch event in Beijing, and I'll be on stage," Barra said.
While the company's presence to be on the global stage is very good news, it's still not confirmation that Xiaomi is ready to take the leap with global markets.
Xiaomi is a powerhouse in the Asian markets and that might not change anytime soon considering the kind of devices we're seeing from the manufacturer.
Fellow Chinese manufacturer Lenovo is the company's biggest rival in the industry today and appears to be dominating the market with offerings like the Vibe K4 Note and the Vibe X3. Will Xiaomi be able to turn the tables with the Mi 5? We'll know in a month's time.
